A Leafy Affair – Altenew Reel Hop + Giveaway

Hey friends! Welcome back to another fun day of crafting! Today I’m featuring one of my cards from the Altenew Educator September Reel Hop, called A Leafy Affair. If you haven’t checked out all the beautiful leaf products from Altenew, check it out soon! They are great! I’m already thinking of extra cards to make with these products. All products are linked below. Also see giveaway information below product links.

For the black and white card, it was very quick and simple to make. It took me about 6 minutes to make.

  1. Cut a top-folding heavyweight black (130lb) card base to 4.25 inches x 5.5 inches.
  2. Use Altenew Leaf Burst stencil and tape to card base.
  3. Using a foam blending tool, blend Altenew Cloud White Pigment Ink over the stencil onto the card base. Go over it about 3-4 times to get a deep, rich white.
  4. Carefully lift up stencil – pigment ink will take a little longer to dry. I heat set my ink to dry faster.
  5. Stamp the “Sending You Prayers” sentiment from Altenew Heartfelt Sentiments set in Altenew Permanent Black Ink onto a small white cardstock piece.
  6. Use black foam dimensionals to pop up the sentiment.
  7. Adhere to the center of the leaf burst image.

The next card was also fairly quick to make.

  1. Cut a black heavyweight card base to 4.25 inches by 5.5 inches.
  2. Use Altenew Leaf Bed stencil and tape to card base.
  3. Using a foam blending tool, blend Versamark Embossing Ink over the stencil onto the card base. Go over it about 3-4 times to get an even coat.
  4. Carefully lift up stencil, then pour Altenew Gold Embossing Powder over stenciled image. Remove any loose specks of embossing powder with a fine paintbrush.
  5. Heat set until all the gold powder is raised.
  6. On a white card strip, using Altenew Permanent Black Ink, stamp the “Get Well Soon” sentiment.
  7. Round the corners and add foam dimensionals to the back of the sentiment strip.
  8. Die cut the medium sized vase from the Altenew Boho Vases in bright pink.
  9. Cut a white cardstock piece slightly smaller than the vase and glue to the back of the pink vase.
  10. Die cut the leaves from the Altenew Boho Vases die set. I die cut mine in a lighter green, then a darker green. When gluing these together, offset it slightly to show the lighter green on the bottom.
  11. Glue the leaves to the back of the vase.
  12. Add black foam dimensionals to the back of the vase and adhere to the bottom left corner.
  13. Adhere the sentiment strip next to the vase, slightly under the leaves.

And that completes this card! The longest part about making this card was die cutting the leaves and vase. See how quick it was to make it? This would be beautiful in lighter colors as well.
