Do you prefer beach or mountains? For me, I prefer mountains. If there is a beach with mountains for me to look at the pretty pristine water, that is an added bonus! Let’s get into making this card!
When I was thinking of what to create, I knew immediately I wanted to use the Altenew Garden Picks 3D die set as foliage around my framed mountain scene. Here are the cardstock colors I used for this card: Cosmic Berry, Purple Heart, Warm Sunshine, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, Mountain Pine, Green Onyx, Arctic Mountain, and Winter Lake. To top these bold flowers, I used gold brushed cardstock for the middle pieces, and rose gold brushed cardstock for the top layer accent pieces. If you don’t have these cardstock colors on hand, an alternative is to use Altenew White cardstock and ink it using these colors. I did that method for Rose Quartz (the lightest pink) and Icy Water (the lightest blue) since I did not have these cardstocks available.
Next, I die cut this gorgeous detailed frame out of white cardstock four pieces, and Kraft cardstock one piece. Then, taking an oval center piece of one of the white frames, stencil the mountain using the Majestic Mountain stencils. This is a gorgeous stencil set with four layers. You will begin with the lightest color and gradually build. For the inks, I used the Coastal Mist Fresh Dye Ink bundle, which consisted of Frosted Sea Glass, Coastal Haze, Misty Harbor, and Green Onyx. These dye inks build beautifully to create a lush mountain. Then, I stamped the “Hello” in Misty Harbor ink using the Pop It Up: Blooming Hydrangea Stamp set.
To put this card together, start with an A2 card base from heavyweight white cardstock. While it is hard to see the light stenciling, use the Altenew stencil and blend Polar Bear ink over it with the Altenew round blending brush. Next, glue the oval stenciled mountain to the center of the card. Then, glue all five frames together, putting the Kraft cardstock frame on top. This adds in an element of nature with the brownish hue. Add the green foliage and two of each flower to the right of the frame. I glued all the leaves and flowers to the frame and popped up one of the flowers using dimensional tape. To complete the look, add three iridescent gems to the indentations on the frame.
