die cuts, Layering Dies, simple cards

Easy Die Cutting

Hello! Thank you for visiting my blog! I have a simple card I’ll be sharing with you. As you may have already seen, I am in the Altenew Educator Program. I have loved how it has challenged me to be creative with the Altenew products I have on hand. Let’s get into the card details!

To begin, I cut and scored a 130lb black heavyweight cardstock. The card is a standard A2 card measuring at 4 1/4 inches x 5 1/2 inches. Next, I cut a white cardstock panel and a single black cardstock panel to the same size. Using the Altenew Spring Shower Cover Die, I die cut the black cardstock panel. This created openings in this panel where all the flowers and leaves are. Then, I glued this die cut black panel to the solid white panel.

After gluing the die cut panel to the white solid panel, I used the Altenew Spring Shower Cover Die to die cut various colors of cardstock using my scraps. I made sure to choose bright colors and shades of greens for the leaves in order to make it pop against the black cardstock. I put all these pieces into a little tray and starting gluing those pieces into the corresponding shapes. I mixed it up all over the panel. What I love about using Altenew cover and layering dies is that they give you a guide to create the dimensional flowers.

After adding all the pieces I wanted to add to the panel, I glued it to the card base I created earlier. Then, I used the Altenew Cross Stitch Flower stamp with the Altenew Permanent Black ink to stamp the large “Hello” sentiment on a piece of white cardstock. To give more dimension to the sentiment block, I cut four extra pieces of cardstock and glued these to the back of the sentiment. Then, I rounded my corners using my envelope punch. I topped it off with a bit more dimension using black foam adhesive dots and placed the sentiment in the middle.

I love how simple this card was to make. I also really enjoyed using just a few products instead of a bunch of different ones. this would be pretty with fall colors as well. Thanks so much for checking it out. Happy crafting!
