Paris, Please! Romantic Script with Layering Rose Blossom and Eiffel Tower
I loved making this card. Originally, I made it for my niece’s 18th birthday. She loves all things pink, sparkly, and Paris. So…I decided to create a romantic script background to make this luxe birthday card.
First, I cut a card base to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. Then, I cut a card mat to 4 x 5 1/4 using the Recollections Copper Foil cardstock. For my background panel, I cut it to 3 3/4 x 5. I achieved the torn, old paper look by using the new Tim Holtz Deckle Edge Cutter. I love love love this deckle edge cutter! So nifty! On this background panel, I used Stampin’ Up! Sahara Sand Ink and the My Favorite Things Romantic Script Background stamp. I inked it up and then stamped off on a scratch sheet of paper to get a lighter tone.
For the sentiment, I used Stampin’ Up! Apothecary Art Stamp Set. I believe this a retired set, but I am certain you can find another happy birthday script stamp to use. Behind it, you’ll notice some of the romantic script, I had used a scrap piece of cardstock with it already stamped on it and used an ink blender to get a pinkish hue. For the pink hue, I used Altenew Rouge ink. I used dimensional foam tape to pop it up for a 3D effect.
To get the gorgeous Eiffel Tower, I used the Stampin’ Up! Parisian Dies. First, I cut the Eiffel Tower 4 times using white cardstock. Then, I cut another Eiffel Tower out of the leftover Recollections Copper Foil cardstock. I glued all of those die cuts together using Gina K Connect glue – using a very thin amount. I set those to the side and placed a heavyweight large acrylic block on top of it to let it dry and stick together.
Other than the Eiffel Tower, I believe the beautiful focal point is the layered rose blossom at the top right corner. It adds a hint of romanticism to it. It’s a beautiful delicate touch. I created it using the Altenew Layering Rose Blossoms Stamp set. Since I don’t have the dies to match, Altenew carries these and I plan to purchase these soon, I fussy cut the rose blossom. It did not take too long to do it. This stamp set is so nifty to help you get that realistic look to the rose blossom. I love all of Altenew’s layering stamp sets. They add such fine detail. For my inks on this rose blossom, I used Versamark ink for the outline of the rose. I poured Recollections Champagne Embossing powder on it, then heat set it. Next, I used Altenew Pink Pearl crisp dye ink for the solid fill image of the rose. After that, for the third layer, I used Altenew Rouge crisp dye ink. for my final fourth layer, I used Altenew Coral Bliss crisp dye ink. After I stamped all four layers, i used my heat tool to slightly dry it. Then, I used a small napkin to rub off the excess ink that got on the embossed outline.
Finally, I adhered the Eiffel Tower to my card. I did not use any extra dimension on it since it already had plenty of dimension with the 5 cardstock layers. Then, I added the rose blossom and Happy birthday sentiment using foam dimensional adhesive. I finished it off with champagne and pink pearls to add pizzazz. I wish you could see this card in person! The details of the rose blossom, the subtle background, the dimension of the Eiffel Tower, was exactly what I had in mind. I loved how all of these products created a cohesive, luxe birthday card.
